When Mike Israetel announced casually on Facebook he was writing a “powerlifting book” I immediately got excited.

That is why I am so excited to share this interview with you today.

I‘m going through the “Scientific Principles of Strength Training” right now. And I will share my notes with you and link them here in time. I can tell you this though…

This book is not about “the best raw powerlifting program”. Much like Greg Nuckols’s books this books does not contain ANY raw powerlifting programs.

This is very much a text book on the science and practice of powerlifting.

Mike From Israel?

No, it’s not Mike from Israel. It’s Mike Israetel. And for you information, he was born in Moscow, Russia. Which promotes Mike instantly to god like status in the strength training community.

And it shows, he told me he walks around at 240lbs and when he’s taking the stage in a bodybuilding show his stage weight is 220lbs.  And Mike is only 5′ something.

Mike is plenty smart too. He recently made the move from the University of Central Missouri to teach Exercise and Sport Science courses at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Professor, bodybuilder, powerifter and BJJ grappler… Mike Israetel is a legend.

All this scientific knowledge and practical experience comes together at Renaissance Periodization where he currently is also the head science consultant.
